Data Wiping and Destruction
Pentos offer a number of options around data destruction and server disposal. Including data wiping which clears data from storage media in a manner that renders it unreadable unless special utility software or techniques are used to recover the cleared data. This is the least secure method of sanitising hard disk storage media. Therefore, we use also software which is DES/DOD endorsed for completely and thoroughly sanitising any hard drive device to the following standards: DOD 5200.28, NCSC-TG-025, AFSSI 5020, OPNAV 5510 and AR-380-19.

Alternatively Pentos can also destroy data by:
•    Degaussing (i.e. demagnetizing) a procedure that reduces the magnetic flux of a medium to virtual zero by applying a reverse magnetizing field. Properly applied, degaussing renders any previously stored data on magnetic media unreadable. This should be used as a last resort, as it renders the hard drive unusable.
•    Destruction of a hard drive is the process of physically damaging a medium so that it is not usable in a computer (in its simplest form removal and destruction of the drive platters) and so that no known exploitation method can retrieve data from it.

All of the above procedures are documented and certification provided. In addition, we offer a disposal service for PC and server hardware. We are WEEE licensed and can offer economical and safe disposal of old or unserviceable equipment.
